Dental societies, dental suppliers and individuals seeking information to provide assistance: If you know of a displaced dentist from the New Orleans, Nothlake or Southwest areas, please help us get information to them. Please call (800) 388-6642 or e-mail info@ladental.org and let us know how to contact these members. Even if you have not been a victim of Hurricane Katrina or Hurricane Rita, please notify your colleagues who are victims of the information posted on the link of this web site entitled "Dentists Looking for Assistance." Dental volunteers are needed immediately to serve in Operation Blessing's dental field clinic that provides FREE care to residents resettling in New Orleans. The city of New Orleans has requested that Operation Blessing open a field clinic for the next six months to help with the increase of dental emergencies. The field dental clinic is located in St. Bernard Parish and contains all the needed equipment. Operation Blessing offers free accommodations and food to all dental volunteers. Contact Scott Hill at 757-226-3858 or scott.hill@ob.org to volunteer or receive more information. If you have any supplies for Hurricane Katrina evacuees, please contact Christy Harrison at PRC Compassion (Pastor Resource Council) at 225-615-0535 or 225-408-3380. They have warehouse and loading dock facilities. Jefferson Baptist Church is also putting together packets for shelters all over the state. You can ship items to: Hurricane Katrina Relief, C/O Debbie Dixon, Jefferson Baptist Church, 9135 Jefferson Hwy., Baton Rouge, LA 70809, (225) 923-0356 or jefferson@jeffersonbaptist.org. Other health care professionals volunteer contacts would be: 1-877-923-2114. This rings to a sort of clearinghouse for health care professionals who want to volunteer their services. The United Way will then direct providers to wherever they are needed. The Red Cross and the LA Department of Health and Hospitals has referred us to another volunteer collection location for health care professionals. Go to http://www.tsged.com/Katrina_aid.htm and click on the link in the text to fill out a form that includes health care professionals specialties and availability. If you need assistance or further direction please contact their Hurricane Hotline at 800-893-9698 x 1298 or e-mail: barry_smith@tsged.com. The CDC has also been collecting information on medical professionals who are willing to volunteer. They can be contacted at http://www.bt.cdc.gov/disasters/hurricanes/hhs_announcement.asp.
