Each Component representative on the Council of Government Affairs shall:
1. As Chairman of his Component’s Council on
Government Affairs, show an active and continuing interest in legislative
affairs relating to the profession and in particular those legislative matters
and problems arising within his district.
2. Establish, in cooperation with the
Component President, a Component Council on Government Affairs with membership
comprised of an adequate number of appointees to assume responsibility for
legislative supervision over locally designated geographical areas within the
District which will equalize distribution of legislators within said areas.
3. The establishment of means for direct
contact with legislators through the dentist who cares for the dental needs of
the legislator and/or his family, or through a dentist having close personal
contact with the legislator.
4. Conduct on an annual basis within each
component area, a Legislative Appreciation Banquet involving the contact
dentists, area legislators, State Committee Chairman, The Executive Director,
and when possible, the President of the State Association or the
President-Elect.
5. The assumption of full responsibility for
the initial handling of all dental legislation arising or emanating from their
Component. This responsibility shall
include the forwarding of proposed legislative matters, in cooperation with the
Component Director, to the Board of Directors of the Louisiana Dental
Association with appropriate recommendations.
