AUGUST 1, 2007 HEALTH INSURANCE CARRIER & ADMINISTRATOR CHANGE APPROVED BY BOARD OF DIRECTORS
The LDA Board of Directors is pleased to announce the transfer of the Association’s endorsed health insurance program from New York Life to Nippon Life of America (NLI), effective August 1, 2007. Administrative responsibilities associated with the health insurance program will also transfer simultaneously from Gilsbar to Total Plan Services, Inc (TPSI).
Highlights of the advantages to the LDA that are anticipated with this carrier change include:
• Lower rate renewal effective August 1, 2007;
• 12-month rate guarantee;
• Lower internal costs with Nippon will be instrumental in reducing future increases and keeping premiums competitive;
• Nippon Life is currently the largest mutual insurance company in the world. Specialists in the group health insurance arena, Nippon Life of America is rated A- (Excellent) by AM Best;
• As the exclusive administrators for NLI in the Gulf South, Total Plan Services’ 35 years experience is complimented by an outstanding reputation for prompt, professional customer service.
• Both Nippon and TPSI are committed to the Association-endorsed health insurance market, currently underwriting and administering other Professional Associations.
Carroll Stewart, President of TPSI, stated, “Speaking on behalf of Nippon Life and Total Plan Services, we are honored to have been selected by the LDA to underwrite and administer their endorsed health insurance program. I want to assure all current participants that their insurance will be transferred August 1 on a continuous basis with no change in benefits or loss of coverage; current PPO networks and providers will remain in force; and full credit will be received for all 2007 calendar year deductibles.”
Members presently insured under the endorsed program will be receiving additional information in the mail shortly and are encouraged to read all notifications carefully to facilitate the smooth transition to their coverage to the new carrier/administrator. Also, watch the LDA Web site for updated news and information!
