To enhance the oral health of our State by providing funding for clinical research, education, scholarships and access to care programs, as well as providing financial assistance to dental professionals and their families who are in need.

The LDA Foundation is made up of three 501(c)(3) organizations:

1. Charles E. Hebert, Jr., Continuing Education Trust Fund

2. Relief Fund of the Louisiana Dental Association

3. The Louisiana Dental Association Assistance Fund, Inc.

The 2004 LDA House of Delegates passed a resolution to:

RESOLVED, that, pursuant to La. R.S. 12:237B., the Louisiana Dental Association (the “LDA”), acting in its capacity as the sole member of The Louisiana Dental Association Assistance Fund, Inc., and acting through its Board of Directors, hereby approves changing the name of The Louisiana Dental Association Assistance Fund, Inc. to “Louisiana Dental Association Foundation” (hereinafter “LDA Foundation”), contingent upon receiving a favorable determination from the Internal Revenue Service on the issues of: (i) terminating the Relief Fund of the Louisiana Dental Association (“Relief Fund Trust”) and the Charles E. Hebert, Jr., Continuing Education Trust Fund (“Hebert Trust”), which are tax-exempt entities, (ii) transferring the trusts’ funds to the LDA Foundation, and (iii) broadening the activities of the LDA Foundation; and be it further…
RESOLVED, that the President and Secretary of The Louisiana Dental Association Assistance Fund, Inc. are hereby authorized and directed to execute Articles of Amendment of Articles of Incorporation and any other documents to accomplish changing the name of The Louisiana Dental Association Assistance Fund, Inc. to “Louisiana Dental Association Foundation,” upon receiving a favorable determination from the Internal Revenue Service on the aforementioned issues.

The Foundation is currently in its beginning stages, waiting for official IRS approval in order to be able to accept tax-deductible contributions. Stay tuned for more information as it becomes available!

Because, after a favorable determination from the IRS, the LDA Assistance Fund will become the LDA Foundation, LDA members and friends can make donations now to the Assistance Fund. All contributions are tax-deductible to the extent permitted by law.
