Support for Dental Student Programs PDF Print E-mail

Our strength is the commitment of our members to serve organized dentistry. We need members that are eager to present new ideas and thoughts to carry out the LDA’s plans for the future. By helping the LSU School of Dentistry (LSUSD) and building relationships with the students from the time they begin dental school, we are able to help transition the students from dental school into organized dentistry. Our future and the advancement of the dental profession depends upon the efforts and commitment of our future dentists!

Each year, the LDA promotes or supports the following programs geared toward LSUSD students:

Lunch and Learn – a training/informational event scheduled during the lunch hour. Lunch is provided for the students while they listen to presentations from LDA members or various other dental-related speakers.

Mentor Program/Preceptorship Program

Senior Reception – a dinner hosted by the LDA Council on Membership and Dental Practice prior to graduation. At this event, the students officially fill out their Tripartite applications and transfer from student members of the LDA to members of the Tripartite. This dinner is also an opportunity for the students to learn more about organized dentistry.

LDA Senior Student Award – a plaque and scholarship given to one student at the LSUSD’s recognition ceremony for graduating seniors.

LSUSD Graduation Reception – help to underwrite the cost of the reception.

The students also have opportunities to network with LDA members at events such as the LDA Fishing Rodeo and the New Dentist Seminar and Tailgate Party. There are also special registration rates for dental students at all LDA C.E. events.
