Academy of General Dentistry Bestows
Lifelong Learning and Service Award
Charles B.
Foy, Jr., D.D.S., M.A.G.D., has received the coveted Lifelong Learning and
Service Recognition award from the Academy of General Dentistry (AGD). Since
the award was started in 2005, only 150 dentists from the AGD’s 37,000 members
have been chosen for this special honor which recognizes lifelong learning,
volunteering to communities in need, mentoring associates and new dentists and
participating in organized dentistry.
Dr. Foy is a
general dentist practicing in Madisonville. This is the third year in a row
that an LDA member and LSUSD alum has been honored. In 2010, Dr. Scott Kogler
from Gonzales won the award, and in 2009, Dr. King Scott from Monroe was
honored. Dr. Foy is a member of the ADA, the LDA, the Northlake Dental
Association, the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry, the Southeastern
Academy of Prosthodontics, the Academy of Operative Dentistry, the American
Academy of Forensic Sciences and the American Society of Forensic Odontology.
The award is
presented only to AGD members who have gone above and beyond earning the
association’s highest honor of mastership. To accomplish this recognition,
honorees complete at least 1,600 hours of continuing dental education in 16
different dental disciplines. Recipients also complete at least 100 hours of
dental-related community or volunteer service.
