Chair, Committee on Local Arrangements

The American Dental Association is bringing SmileCon®, the ADA’s premier continuing education and networking event, to New Orleans October 17 – 19. We will be seeking volunteers from across the state to serve in one of two roles: speaker concierges and hospitality positions. If you are interested in becoming a volunteer, please contact a member of the Committee on Local Arrangements or the New Orleans Dental Association office (504) 834-6449.

Committee on Local Arrangements: Dr. Glenn Dubroc, Jr. (Chair), Dr. Donald Bennett (Co-Chair), Drs. Claudia Cavallino & Emily Eggart (Programs Committee), and Drs. Gregory Guerra & Taylor Haddock (Operations Committee). You can e-mail Dr. Dubroc at ituth@aol.com.

Volunteer Roles at SmileCon®

Speaker Concierge

Speaker concierges are the onsite liaisons between speakers and the ADA; each speaker concierge will manage a speaker’s itinerary and ensure a timely schedule is maintained.

Responsibilities: The speaker concierge will reach out to the speaker before the meeting to welcome him/her to SmileCon®, greet the speaker upon his/her arrival to the course room (or other pre-determined location), make general announcements, introduce the speaker(s) and announce the course verification code number for continuing education credit at the end of the course.

Benefits: Confirmed speaker concierges will be eligible for a complimentary Smile Pass registration. They will also receive continuing education credit for courses attended while volunteering, as well as complimentary meals and parking on the day of their assignment. If desired, the value of the complimentary Smile Pass can be applied toward the purchase of a Platinum Smile Pass.

Terms and Conditions: Only ADA member dentists are eligible to serve as speaker concierges. NOTE: The speaker concierge discount cannot be combined with other promotional discounts.

Hospitality Positions

Hospitality volunteers will be stationed throughout the convention center to welcome SmileCon® attendees and answer questions.

Responsibilities: Volunteers must be able to greet attendees and help answer questions in English (even better if you are bilingual in Spanish); be familiar with the Ernest N. Morial

Convention Center and surrounding area; and be comfortable standing in one location for a few hours.

Benefits: Confirmed hospitality volunteers will be eligible for a complimentary Dental Central Pass registration. Hospitality volunteers will also receive a SmileCon® t-shirt and complimentary meal vouchers and parking the day of their assignment. If desired, the value of the Dental Central Pass may be applied toward the purchase of a Smile Pass or Platinum Smile Pass.

Terms and Conditions: Dentists, hygienists, and dental students are eligible to serve as speaker concierges. NOTE: The hospitality volunteer discount cannot be combined with other promotional discounts.

SmileCon® Registration is expected to open in May. Registration categories are:

Platinum Pass -- entitles the registrant to ALL continuing education sessions, including hands-on participation courses and Master Classes.

Smile Pass -- grants three-day access to Dental Central (ADA’s Exhibit Hall) and all CE presentations, as well as entry to the Friday night party. Hands-on workshops and Master Classes may be added for an additional fee.

Dental Central Pass -- grants attendees 3-day access ONLY to Dental Central (ADA’s Exhibit Hall) and any events and presentations hosted therein. This pass does NOT grant access to C.E. presentations other than those hosted within the Exhibit Hall.
