Course Title: A Potpourri of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery
C.E. Hours: 4 Clinical Hours
Course Description: This four-part lecture will focus on common areas of interest to the dental clinician. At the conclusion of this four-hour interactive Zoom program, the dentist will receive a good general overview of the following major areas of interest that will assist in their daily practices.
Course Objectives:
1. Common complications of dento-alveolar surgery including extractions and dental implant surgery
2. Management strategies for obstructive sleep apnea, both surgical and non-surgical
3. The top 10 most common oral lesions, identification, and management in the dental practice
4. An overview of oral cancer, with emphasis on early detection, diagnosis, referral, and management
Meet Dr. G.E. Ghali, DDS, MD, FACS, FRCS(Ed)
Dr. Ghali has lived and practiced in Shreveport, Louisiana since 1993. He and his wife, Hope, have four children. His practice covers the full scope of craniomaxillofacial surgery, with a focus on pediatric craniofacial deformities such as craniosynostosis, cleft lip and palate, and dentofacial issues. He is also involved in cosmetic surgery, head and neck oncology, and trauma care.
Dr. Ghali served as Chair of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery (2004–2021), Dean of LSU School of Medicine (2016–2018), and Chancellor of LSU Health Sciences Center (2016–2021). He is active in teaching and has held leadership roles in national and international organizations like ACS, AAOMS, ABOMS, and IAOMS.
A prolific researcher, Dr. Ghali has published widely in peer-reviewed journals, contributed book chapters, and edited key textbooks in the field.

Refunds and Cancellation Requests
To receive a refund, all requests must be postmarked or sent no later than the day before each meeting begins. You may send your request to jeanne@ladental.org or fax to (225) 926-1886. Registration and course cancellation/refund requests must be in writing.
Cancellation Requests prior to Early Registration Deadline (see specific meetings for specific dates)
- Refund requests for registration will be granted a full refund, less a $15 processing fee. The request must be received on or before each meeting's early registration date.
- Exceptions will not apply.
Cancellation Requests between Early Registration Deadline and the day before your meeting begins
- Refund requests for registration fees will be granted a 50% refund less a $15 processing fee. The request must be received no later than 4 p.m. on the day before your meeting begins.
- Exceptions will not apply.
No cancellation requests or refund requests will be accepted or granted after the scheduled start to any meeting. This includes cancellations due to illness, late arrivals, weather, parking difficulties or any other reasons.
