Justin Jellin

Dr. Justin Jellin, ART

Dr. Jellin earned his Doctor of Physical Therapy degree from the University of the Pacific and has an undergraduate degree in Sports Sciences. He is the co-founder of Ergonomic Dental Consultants with his business partner Dr. Noëlle Santucci, delivering continuing education on the latest research in dental ergonomics and streamlining it into practical clinical pearls. 
In addition to clinical practice, he is the Program Director of RUNATOMY, a Running Gait Analysis Clinic. He is a faculty member at the University of the Pacific and at the University of California in San Francisco. His faculty appointment includes lecturing to students, faculty and staff on musculoskeletal disorders, kinesiology, orthopedic examinations and ergonomics. 
Additionally, Dr. Jellin has presented numerous lectures to physical therapy and dental professionals on MSDs, running gait analysis and telehealth physical therapy. He has a special interest in sports medicine, especially cases that are inter-disciplinarily complex. 
He co-authored the research article “Dental and Physical Therapy Faculty Collaborate in Assessing and Education Dental Students on Musculoskeletal Disorders,” which was published in the Journal of Dental Education.
Santucci

Dr. Noëlle M. Santucci, MA, RDH

Dr. Noëlle Santucci received her dental degree, her Advanced Education in General Dentistry Certification, and her Masters Degree in Educational Psychology and Counseling from the University of the Pacific and her Degree in Dental Hygiene from Marquette University.
She is co-founder of Ergonomic Dental Consultants, with her business partner, Dr. Justin Jellin, delivering inter-disciplinary continuing education on dental ergonomics and streamlining it into practical and clinical pearls. 
She has been private practice for over 30 years with her husband, Eugene Santucci, in Atherton, California.
Dr. Santucci has authored two chapters in Esthetic Dentistry in Clinical Practice and has published articles on nutrition, omega-3 in oral and systemic health, impression taking with the Isolite, dental erosion and on ergonomics and musculoskeletal disorders. She coauthored the research article "Dental and Physical Therapy Faculty Collaborate in 
Assessing and Educating Dental Students on Musculoskeletal Disorders”, which was published in the Journal of Dental Education
Dr. Santucci has presented C.E. courses to dental and dental hygiene associatons, faculty and staff on nutrition, ergonomics, musculoskeletal disorders, clinical photograpy, impressions taking and occlusion. 
She recently retired from private practice and is currently an Associate Professor in the Department of Preventive and Restorative Dentistry at the University of the Pacific. She served on the team that integrated and course directed the International Dental Students and the DDS preclinical restorative curriculums. 
Dr. Santucci is a Fellow in the Pierre Fauchard Academy and American College of 
Dentists and a Diplomate in American Academy of Pain Management.
Balhoff

Dr. David Balhoff

Dr. Balhoff is a native of Baton Rouge and a graduate of Catholic High School. After receiving his Bachelor of Science degree from Louisiana State University in 2000, Dr. Balhoff graduated from the Louisiana State University School of Dentistry in New Orleans, LA in 2006 with his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree. He received the Dean’s Outstanding Senior Dental Student award and the LSUSD Alumni Association Leadership Award. Dr. Balhoff was a member of the C. Edmund Kells Honor Society and was awarded membership in the Omicron Kappa Upsilon Honor Dental Society for outstanding academic and clinical achievement in his class. Dr. Balhoff went on to complete his Orthodontic Residency at Louisiana State University School of Dentistry in June 2008.

Dr. Balhoff is a private practice orthodontist at our Baton Rouge and Prairieville office locations. He has published both research and clinical orthodontic articles in the Journal of Orthodontics (2009) and Orthotown (2014) magazine, respectively. Dr. Balhoff also became the first Orthodontist to start the charitable arm of Smiles Change Lives in the state of Louisiana.

In 2013 Dr. Balhoff completed the Full FACE Course (Functional and Cosmetic Excellence). This 2-year continuing education course incorporated comprehensive diagnostics, airway-focused orthodontics, thorough treatment mechanics, and the latest orthodontic advancements for treating the entire dental and facial system. He is a member of the American Cleft Palate and Craniofacial Association (ACPA) and is a team member of the Our Lady of the Lake Cleft Palate and Craniofacial Team. He was awarded the 2014 New Dentist Award, which is given to one dentist in the state of LA annually for his civic involvement, public service, and unselfish devotion to the dental profession. In 2015, Dr. Balhoff began utilizing Invisalign as an orthodontic treatment option for his patients. He became the leading Invisalign provider in the state of Louisiana. Now, as a leading clear aligner provider in Louisiana, Dr. Balhoff lectures to the LSU Orthodontic Residency students annually to help educate future orthodontists in their clear aligner studies.

Dr. Balhoff is married to his wife Leah Blaize Balhoff, and they have 3 sons– Thomas, Andrew, and Henry. Dr. Balhoff enjoys watching and coaching sports, being in the outdoors, and growing with his family. He has A LOT of 1st cousins.

Course Title: Depending On How You Sit, Dentistry Can Be A Pain In The Assets

Course Description:

Musculoskeletal disorders (MSDs) are one of the major reasons dental professionals retire prematurely. With over 50% of dentist suffering from MSDs while practicing, it is an important topic to keep in the forefront of the dental practitioner’s minds daily. This unique, interactive and inter-professional educational course will be presented by both a Dentist and a Doctor of Physical Therapy and will be of interest not only to the doctors, but to their entire dental team as well. Attendees will learn about the most common musculoskeletal disorders affecting dental professionals and the ergonomic risk factors associated with practicing dentistry. Participants will understand how to address current injuries and how to mitigate future injuries through practice modifications. Musculoskeletal injuries should not prevent you from a fulfilling career and a lifetime of practice!

Course Objectives:

  • Identify the most common MSDs that affect dental professionals
  • Understand the causes of MSDs
  • Understand effective corrective exercises to address and prevent MSDs
  • Learn ergonomic practice guidelines while using office equipment *Understand fiscal impacts of MSDs on dental professionals
